No wonder the International Sleep Day and International Day of Happiness are taking place in the same month (the first one is the 16th of March, while the second is the 20th).

You do not feel good when you don’t have enough sleep, but how can you fall asleep when you’re emotionally exhausted or anxious about something? To put an end to this vicious circle, we have selected the best applications for a healthier night rest:

Calm

FREE

Being Apple’s 2017 App of the Year, Calm helps you to face the battle with insomnia fully equipped with a set of sleep stories and ambiance sounds, including Evening Crickets and Tropical Beach.

Sleep Cycle

FREE

This smart alarm will analyze your biorhythms and wake you up when you are sleeping lightest so you do not need your regular double-espresso to feel fresh and crisp. The premium version is available too. After a month-long free trial, you will have to pay £21.60 a year for extra features.

Headspace

FREE

If your main problem with sleep is obsessive thinking - here you go. With Headspace, you will grow from the basics of meditation to the highest point of mindfulness.

Zen Sand

FREE

Who said games cannot be relaxing? Chill off with beautiful pictures of a Japanese garden and place bamboo stalks in the right position to find yourself in peace and harmony.

ZenView

FREE

Unlike the previous apps on the list, this app does not require you to do anything at all. Just lay back, enjoy the views, change modes from Soft Sprinkle to Heavy Storm and tap the screen occasionally to cause sounds of falling raindrops.
